Living With Intention
I find that the happiest and kindest people I meet are often the ones that live life with intention. They do not, like most ordinary individuals, go through their day to day motions thinking that pleasure is the ultimate reward. They know that though pleasure is desirable, it is also fleeting and unfulfilling. Since this is a lesson all of us could use, I compiled a list of small changes everyone can make in order to be more present in the moment and to live life with intention.
Notice the people that are around you every day. Notice their habits, ask about their families. It is easy to take the whole world for granted. To feel ignored and to ignore in turn. People need to know that they matter, and they will be grateful if you make them feel like they do.
Bless your food
This does not need to be done in any religious way. Simply take a minute to acknowledge what it is that you are about to put into your body and bless it. Your food will become the building blocks for your body. Look at it, make sure that it is worthy of you and endow it with positive intention.
Look your best
I know that this is not possible every day. But as much as you can find the time, plan what you are going to wear when you leave the house. Take care of yourself. It is a small thing that will end up having a profound impact on your self-esteem and the way you are perceived at work.
Meditate every day
Every person is dealing with demanding challenges in their lives. We need to give ourselves time to unwind and to process the things that happen, or we will end up feeling lost and unsure of where life is taking us.
Be flexible when it comes to getting the result as life will always throw curve balls your way and you will need to be ready to go back to the drawing board. Never allow yourself to not have a vision of a life you would find fulfilling. Allow this vision to be one of your driving forces.
Whether you are going to class, to a business meeting, or to dinner at a friend house, come prepared. Bring your knowledge, bring your gifts, and be present. You never know, things just might go your way.
Time goes by fast. It is important to be awake in the moment. Do not simply let things happen around you. Pay attention. Learn from what is happening. Embrace life fully and take your turn sitting behind the wheel.
