Security and Vulnerability

One of the most common things people seek is security. We want to know that our basic needs will be met. So we look for a stable job, a reliable partner, a roof over our heads, savings, insurance. We see the world as scarce and hostile, and ourselves as beings that have little inherent value.

Our fears seem to be warranted when we turn on the news channel and hear about all the terrible things that are happening all around us. Yet these fears are also short-sighted. We are trying to protect ourselves and our families from life itself. We try to find permanence in the fleeting.

The more walls we build around ourselves, the more walls face us. The more weapons we create, the more likely we become to destroy the world. The more things we amass, the more damage we cause to our environment and the more we identify with our egos. The more we invest in our families, the more it breaks our hearts to find out that they are imperfect and fragile.

We think that we are creating security, but we are manifesting fear. Our world came to life against all scientific odds. Our universe came from nowhere and somehow didn’t collapse in on itself during expansion.. It began arranging itself and manifesting order. It began bringing about awareness and life. Or could it be the other way around? Could it be the very act of awareness created order and harmony and life? What will this awareness create if it becomes fearful?

There is one thing above all else that is likely to determine your future security. It is your state of mind. Will your attention be drawn to opportunities or fears? Will you easily be thrown into negative thinking when obstacles manifest in your life? How flexible will you be?

If you want a positive future all you can do is start with the now. Take responsibility for your inner balance. Do not fool yourself into thinking that by throwing yourself into fear, anger, resentment and unconsciousness you are working towards something beautiful. Time is an illusion. Your future is not separate from your present. Your strength and life force will always need to come from within. It is from that place of harmony, flow, and connection to all that is that you will create a safe and balanced world.

The Vitalitist

I refuse to succumb to the mundane, always aware of who I am. For it is compromising ourselves that robs us of our vitality, and it is by guarding our vitality and zest for life, knowledge and unity that we flourish. Let longevity and all other good things follow, until it is time to write a new story.

I love this post! It describes how I’m torturing myself always worrying about what my life is going to be like in the years to come, whereas I don’t even know if there is a future for me:) I know it’s not easy to live in the ”No” but somehow, that’s what we all have to manage, I guess.

Please Vitalitist, write more articles. I reall yneed this:)
